A kiloparsec (kpc) is a measurement of distance equal to 1,000 parsecs or 3,260 light years. Our Milky Way is about 30 kpc across and its centre lies about 8 kpc from the Solar System.
Thanks for the reminder, I shortly confused the parsec with the AU here, and 10 kiloAU’s would mean that the planet is practically orbiting the galactic centre.
But yeah, parsecs are a cool unit. It’s even more arbitrary defined than the light year, but it also sounds even cooler.
