Our suspensions have been confirmed, altho I don't trust Jarety any farther than I can throw him. That is the weak link in the plan. Of course they can kidnap the traitoress and give her to the Emperor as a gift, after they cut out her tongue.

@Dragonrider: Weak links can be very useful to draw in one's enemy.

@E Hines:This boy is past the weak link stage, he's at the spill my guts an hope I don't get castrated. Remember just like Maxie he wasn't affected by the sleepy bye spell. He's a wraith just like Maxie. Still say best slit his throat but Dabs not going to stand for that, so take with strand where he can do no damage retrieve at later date.
E Hines (Guest) October 12th, 2018, 11:58 am
@Dragonrider: Of course he will. The questions are what Jarety will spill--which can be shaped, if not perfectly controlled; and what Salock's and the queen's reactions will be, which easily can be anticipated and prepared for, given that their knowledge of the situation is being manipulated in known ways.
Jarety is a tool for shaping the battlefield; it's not useful simply to toss him. Besides, he's a plant, just like Max; that adds to his usefulness: Salock and the queen will be spring-loaded to believe him.
He was unaffected by the sleep spell because it was never used against him. That spell was targeted only against those who were attacking.

@E Hines and @Dragonrider: True, the spell did not specifically target him or Max (if it did, Jarety would have went to sleep and Max would not have).

Since the number of named characters we know on Saronia is very limited, it was somewhat easy to guess the identity of the spy. Nevertheless, I like 7of9's streaming tech a lot. And the robots are great. Why not battle a few of those in the upcoming panels?
Guesticus (Guest) October 12th, 2018, 5:55 am
@ems: those bots look like a cross between the robots from "Fifth Element" and the regurgitated revamped Cylons from that crap remake of "BSG"
Merceneiress October 13th, 2018, 12:27 am
@Guesticus and @ems: The robots are the kind that the Emperor would choose --- huge, powerful and ornate. But yes, how would they do in battle against a worthy opponent?
Guesticus (Guest) October 12th, 2018, 5:52 am
And it's not like we haven't actually seen her turn off the defences or anything...
Tgape (Guest) October 13th, 2018, 10:20 am
Disappointing I understand the need to have the traitor to be distinctive from the rest of the Vay, but did we really need to go to selecting the only dark-skinned Vay?

Sigh. I also understand the complaint is fair too late, as there was also only a single named Vay who did not have a clear scripted loyalty. It is at least salvageable, if the author wishes.
Merceneiress October 13th, 2018, 1:28 pm
@Tgape: indeed every script is salvageable. I have altered the direction of this story several times in the past based on reader comments and your comment is definitely well-received, but I had already thought about this long and hard --- I even thought about introducing a brand new Vay character to be the "traitor" but decided against this because in my opinion, the most interesting characters are not always the good guys. And if a "bad guy" is not pure evil (like Flin is), there is always the opportunity for redemption. I think I've said too much already --- I don't want to give anything away, but I also don't want readers angry about this choice --- let's just say it would be best to reserve judgement on Felina until after you have read several more upcoming pages...
Guesticus (Guest) October 13th, 2018, 5:39 pm
@Merceneiress: personally feel the colour of her skin has nothing to do with it. The traitor didn't have to be visually distinctive, she just had to be a despicable person
Hated her from the start because she was so mean to Lil Tir
E Hines (Guest) October 14th, 2018, 7:58 am
@Merceneiress: I have a dream bad guys will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Keep things going as they are, Sir.
Besides, I've been willing to tame this particular shrew from the jump. What better way than to bring her to the brink and then pull her back? Or give her a push?
Eric Hines

@E Hines: well said

You have an editor?
Merceneiress October 19th, 2018, 8:37 pm
@Kylo Stimpy: haha, no I don't have an editor --- that was a nod to old comic books that would have various editor's notes to remind readers of what happened in the past ("see issues 34 - 35") or to explain various things about the plot, character, or other stuff.
