Oh great, a new lot of Time Interfering Manipulating arzeholes

The fact they refer to Mirby and Tirin as 'usurpers' of the 'Original Curators' means that either they are evil suckscummers, or Lord Etrussedup survived somehow, or at least his (hers? was it ever determined if the Slorn had a more than one gender?) lies were recorded and passed on
D.D.D. Destroyer (Guest) March 23rd, 2018, 10:37 am
Typo in Mirby's second speech bubble, there's an extra apostrophe in there :)

To me, it seems more like another, even more advanced, entity has been formed with a somewhat similar goal. It's a bit early to draw too many conclusions though, at least IMO - I 've never been too good at theorycrafting.
Merceneiress March 24th, 2018, 12:36 am
@D.D.D. Destroyer: Corrected --- thanks for pointing it out. Oh, and I'm not very good at theory mining/crafting either.

@Guesticus: The Slorn are male -- their method of reproduction is asexual in nature (parthenogenesis), but they still have an infatuation with various female species for some reason...

@Lurker314 and Softspot: Yes, helpful-ish in a self-ish way...

@Dragonrider: I loved Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero One! Yes, these two are definitely like her.
Guesticus (Guest) March 24th, 2018, 3:51 am
@Merceneiress: now it's missing a comma :P
Possible ways that sentence could be written:-
"We'll snag a smidge..."
"Well, let's snag a smidge..."

By the way, still say Mirby looks like she was modelled on Anne Hathaway when she was shooting "Les Mis"
Merceneiress March 24th, 2018, 8:38 am
@Guesticus: Corrected (sorry folks --- let's just say it's been a long week...) When I look at that panel again I agree --- very Anne Hathawayish --- when the model's expression is neutral it's not, but when smiling or having an excited expression, yes.
Guesticus (Guest) March 24th, 2018, 2:59 pm
@Merceneiress: no worries, have always wanted to be a professional proof-reader, and just helped someone on a game forum with their story :D
Merceneiress March 24th, 2018, 11:41 pm
@Guesticus: Cool, I am glad you are a fan!
Guesticus (Guest) March 25th, 2018, 5:37 am
@Merceneiress: have been here from almost the start, remember :D
Merceneiress March 25th, 2018, 9:49 am
@Guesticus: I know, and glad you're still here!!
Lurker314 (Guest) March 23rd, 2018, 11:45 am
If it becomes possible to alter history, then you will inevitably have people waging war over it. The winners will need to stay alive, right? All that matters is that these people are in the same position that the Slorn were. Good or bad, it's clear that they are going to be helpful-ish.
SoftSpot March 23rd, 2018, 2:43 pm
helpful-ish? @Lurker314: I guess they may be... as long as it fits in their interest...
Dragonrider March 23rd, 2018, 2:40 pm
I would almost we have Seven of Nine here, are the Borg far behind or God Forbid Donald Trump. Have a definitively Human/Tirin/Muggle attitude towards these two. Even though they appear humanoid they ain't human and any person or group that assumes the position of Supreme I know better than you so do it my way or good bye. Is number one on my best painfully dead list.
Lurker314 (Guest) March 25th, 2018, 7:05 pm
@Dragonrider: Do you approve of people/groups tending to their own survival? How do you do it without stabilizing the timeline?

I'm not at all sure that the term "usurper" is negative here at all. After all, if it weren't for what they did, the people talking would not exist....
Guesticus (Guest) March 26th, 2018, 7:21 am
@Lurker314: have never known of a positive usage of the term "usurper"

And who says the timeline needs stabilizing? Remember, Etrussedup was fucking with the timeline just to manipulate Tirin because he was 'bored' and looking for a 'challenge'
Dragonrider March 27th, 2018, 11:13 am
@Lurker314: I am against any group, be it Sacred, Secular or Temporal that says there is one way and only we know what it is. Assimilate or perish. Our Host has already acknowledged these are just like the Borg of Star Trek fame, I would expect a plot line in which Tirin is captured to become another Locutus to assimilate all time lines into a collective future.
Guesticus (Guest) March 27th, 2018, 2:08 pm
@Dragonrider: not... quite!
OH (Our Host) simply stated that these two were 'definitely like' 7 of 9, not that they are part of the equivalent of the Borg, which could simply be the a like her in personality
Dragonrider March 28th, 2018, 1:43 pm
@Guesticus: Experience that has kept me alive in rough patches taught me to expect the worst and be pleased if it is less. We have not seen the last of these time lords.
Guesticus (Guest) March 28th, 2018, 2:08 pm
@Dragonrider: should hope it's not, this is the first time we have met them (unless that was some sort of time travel joke, told you last time it wouldn't work), and specially want to see more of Sariel ;)
Dean (Guest) March 25th, 2018, 8:34 pm
So the lesson is that if you ever do something historically significant, a bunch of Time Nerds will show up to critique your grammar and wardrobe choices.
SoftSpot March 27th, 2018, 2:36 pm
Is it just my impression or are Tirin and Abby a bit each other's opposite? Abby is eager, too eager, almost psychotic, urging for revenge and loosing caution in the process, while Tirin is aware, not really trusting all? They may not see the new folks in charge observing them, but there always is something like "a feeling of being watched"...
It sure seems like one pushing on and one holding back.

Oh, another thing: the male one says: "No matter how many times I come back here"... he has monitored it before??? What happened the other times? If things don't work out the way they like, do they get a second, third, fourth chance to redo it?

Questions, questions, questions... but I guess that's quite normal if you take time being manipulable.
Guesticus (Guest) March 28th, 2018, 6:52 am
@SoftSpot: depends on if he means the Time or the Location
SoftSpot March 28th, 2018, 6:58 am
@Guesticus: well... since they are capable of observing a certain event in the past and apparently influence and guide it, it might also be possible that they have done this specific and important sequence more than once before...
E Hines (Guest) March 29th, 2018, 6:01 am
The new Time Lords (and the sequence of them as predecessors get...replaced) reminds me of a John Varley story set on a moon of Saturn. Seems the moon is rife with life, but a newly arrived astronaut heroine, discovering the life forms, expresses her dissatisfaction with them once too often. The god of the moon summons her and says, in essence, "You don't like the job I'm doing? I quit. You're the god now. Y'all have fun."
Tirin as Time Lord....
Eric Hines
Guesticus (Guest) March 29th, 2018, 6:29 am
@E Hines: can't see Tirin doing a worse job than what we have seen so far :P
And who says she has to do it on her own? :D
E Hines (Guest) March 29th, 2018, 6:49 am
@Guesticus: She'd certainly have all of an infinity of eternities to find partners to her liking, should she tire of her current coterie. She'd even be able to shape one or more of those eternities to her taste.
Of course, with 3D time, she may already have done/is doing this....
Eric Hines
Dragonrider March 29th, 2018, 3:44 pm
@E Hines: Can't see these creeps voluntarily quitting, and I can't see Tirin being bloody enough to try to rule, The Best Ruler is your own conscience, intelligence, a strong sense of right and wrong, and sense enough to know your Freedom ends where The O Guy stands as does his. Exception when the other guy/gal is hurting someone else, or you.
