Let the mind games commence? Maybe even "adjust" his perception so that he sees them still captured while they are in fact free and ready to kick arse.
So many things can be done with mental powers.....looking forward to your take on them.
My only gripe is a pet peeve. The phrase is "free rein". It's "rein" as in controlling a horse, not "reign" as in the period in which a monarch is in power.
Giving someone "free rein" comes from allowing a horse to use it's own perceptions to guide the ride. Horses, for example, can smell water at a greater distance than a human, so if you're in great need of a water source, you might give your horse "free rein" so it could take you to water.
Silly etymological thing, I know, but eggcorns like that really bug me.
@Guesticus: I'm not arguing that it didn't work. However, on this update you used the lack of inhibition regarding Dabney as evidence that the inhibitor's radio waves aren't an area effect, without considering alternates. For example, Dabney's mental shenanigans may work the same way as Shojin Uhura's neural network.
I can imagine tons of scientific publications on sexual dimorphism in slorn existing in the merceneiress universe. This is the first time we see a female slorn and they seem to be very different from the male specimen. Or maybe male slorn are xenophilic and attracted to different species? That could explain why they never seemed to have a sizeable population in the first place.
Seeing this beautiful female of a species unknown until now, explains a lot about why the Slorn are so into porn. This makes me think they are a dying race that uses time manipulation in order to hang on to what little life they have left.
